Possible cancer cure found in blushwood shrub

Cancer 'cure' in Qld rainforest
Fruit of the native blushwood. Picture: Brian Cassey

Scientists have identified a compound in the fruit of the native blushwood shrub that appears to "liquefy and destroy cancer with no side-effects", according to latest research.

Dr Gordon said a single dose injection of the extract, known as EBC-46, had been effective in 50 critically ill dogs and about a dozen cats and horses.
"This is proving to be something exceptional," she said.
"The tumour literally liquefies.
"There is a rapid knock-down of the tumour, it disintegrates within 24 hour" http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,,26677869-3102,00.html

Wow, I hope this amount to more than just hype. Sure looks promising at this time. One of the things I like about this is lack of side effects. Another is the rapid and obvious response of the treated tumors. I'll will be keeping an eye on this one and wishing for the best.

Bentley Continental GT Supersports

Yes a Bentley. The Bentley Continental GT Supersports is the first Bentley that can run on gasoline and ethanol. And the performance is staggering.

This luxury car has a 6.0L W12 twin-turbocharged engine rated at 621 horsepower and it puts out 590 foot pounds of torque. The GT can pull 0 to 60 in just 3.7 seconds, 0 to 100 in 8.9 seconds and has a top speed of 204 mph.
The power comes at a price in more ways than one. MPG in the city is 11.5 and highway is 24.4. I don't know if that's cruising at 200 mph plus or not.

So Go Green! Save the Earth!
Turn 0 to 60 times in 3.7 seconds and cruise at 200 plus mph! And you only have to pay $267,000 (base price) to do it!

Reptilian Humanoids conspiracy theories

Brian Dunning has suggested that a 1934 Los Angeles Times article may have actually been the origin of the modern day reptilian theory. The article said that a geophysical mining engineer named G.Warren Shufelt had found subterranean labyrinths beneath Los Angeles that led to an underground city. The city had been built by an advanced race of “Lizard People” to escape surface catastrophes some 5000 years ago.

You can see the article reprinted here at Reptoids.com: http://reptoids.com/Vault/Schufeltsearch.htm
They even have the original map there.

It's noteworthy that Shufelt convinced the City of Los Angeles to allow him to dig a tunnel straight down to find the underground city. The shaft hit 250 feet, but nothing was ever found.

So was there no underground city?
Did they not dig deep enough?

The City of Los Angeles must have gotten tired of it, because on March 5th 1934, the tunnel was filled in and the contract with L.A was canceled. But the city never came out and said the theory was hog-wash.
As a matter of fact, in December of 1947, Mr. Arche Dunning of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce made a statement that would suggest no cover up or government conspiracy was at work here.
He said; "It is quite possible, of course, that the supposed labyrinth really exists. But in view of the fact that the overlaying area is the immediate Civic Center area where an important building program is to be carried out, including federal, state, county and city building, there is little probability of any further excavations."

Georgia Senate makes Mark of the Beast illegal

State senators have moved to protect Georgians from being implanted with a microchip without their permission in attempt to thwart what some call the "Mark of the Beast."

Georgia State Senate has passed legislation sponsored by Chip Pearson (R-Dawsonville), that would protect individuals from having a microchip implanted on their person.

The Senate voted 47-2 on Thursday to approve a bill banning microchipping without consent, now a. misdemeanor considered assault and battery.

Nadine Velazquez SEXY DANCE

Nadine Velazquez

As we all know, "My Name Is Earl" was (sadly) canceled. But since then Nadine has appeared in the 2009 romantic comedy, All's Faire in Love, the musical crime film, A Day in the Life, an episode of "CSI: NY", an episode of "Gary Unmarried", the FX sitcom about a fantasy football league, "The League" and most recently an episode of "Scrubs". And of course Nadine was one of the hosts of the Miss USA 2009 pageant and was right there at ground zero when Miss California, Carrie Prejean, gave her infamous answer.

La Chacala

La Chacala is pretty much the Luchadora version of Triple H. It wouldn't surprise me a bit to see her come out from under a ring one night with a sledgehammer. This lady is rough.
Her real name is Carolina Escobedo Villanueva and she was born on April 27 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.
She was trained by luchador Pequeño Diamante and made her lucha libre debut in 1998.  She frequently tag teams with another brawler, Tsunami.

Maribel Guardi "Latin Bombshell"

maribel guardia - latin - latinas

Costa Rican actress Maribel Guardia was born on May 29, 1959 (yes she is 50 years old!) in (of course) Costa Rica. In 1978, she won the Miss Costa Rica pageant, and then went on to represent Costa Rica at the Miss World and Miss Universe (she won Miss Photogenic there) contests.

Maribel moved to Mexico in 1980, and she appeared in her first television show that same year, alongside Manuel "El Loco" Valdés. She has also released several Norteña (also known as norteño or conjunto) music albums. Since her debut, she has appeared on over fifty TV shows and telenovelas in Mexico.
Maribel lived with Mexican singer and songwriter Joan Sebastian for five years, and together they had one son. She moved to Miami, Florida in 2009 with her son.

The Mexican Media has deservedly nicknamed her "La Bella", and you have got to admit, this lady looks pretty amazing at 50. From looking at her pics, I swear this woman has some of the best abs in the business.

Amapola Vs. Dark Angel

The Women of Lucha Libre-Professional female wrestling in Mexico.

Mexican pro wrestling (Lucha Libre) is a tradition in Mexico that has spilled over into America's culture.
And in Lucha Libre Mexicana, the luchadoras (female wrestlers) there are just as respected as the male wrestlers. On this female wrestling list, there are some of the most popular female wrestlers in Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and some of the Indy Mexican wrestling promotions. And remember, this is more than just girls wrestling, this is a Mexican tradition.

Female Wrestlers

Time to post some of the most popular luchadoras (female wrestlers) on this blog so far. Interestingly, it seems everyone is focused on the veterans of Lucha Libre and not so much on the new-comers.

1. Marcela
María Elena Santamaría Gómez was born on May 31, 1971 in Mexico City.
She is better known to her Lucha Libre fans as Marcela .
Marcela was trained by luchadors Panchito Villalobos, Rafael Salamanca, Franco Colombo, Jose Luis Feliciano, Satanico and Fantastik, and she made her pro wrestling debut in December of 1985.

80% Of Today's Delinquent Homeowners Will Lose Their Homes

If you know 5 people behind on their mortgage payments, 4 of them are going to end up losing their homes, according to a new study released by John Burns Real Estate Consulting.

They say that there is a "shadow inventory" of approximately 5 million houses with delinquent mortgages that will go on the market in the next few years. However, because they'll only get released as homeowners' fingers are slowly pried from their deeds, there probably won't be another drop in prices. Sorry, bargain hunters.

The consultants also say that the current efforts to modify loans, few of which are accompanied by a balance deduction, will only delay the inevitable. I can hear the clatter of jingle mail already!

Pamela Anderson's Cheeky Catwalk

The former Baywatch star was the controversial star attraction at the event, where she was promoting her label AMuse with designer Richie Rich.

But things didn't (or maybe they did?) go to plan when the pair hit the catwalk.

The 42-year-old star strutted alongside Rich apparently naked save for a sheer wrap which she pulled tight across her ample chest.

As she turned on her heels, her shawl gaped open at the rear to reveal a hot pink g-string and tan-lined behind.

As if overcome but a sudden attack of modesty, Pam made a futile attempt to cover up, helped by her designer pal.

Rich added to the shambolic display by slipping up on his roller skates.

Meanwhile, new legal documents reveal that Pam's finances aren't in the best of shape.

She allegedly owes $1.1 million to various construction companies for remodeling work on her Malibu home as well as back state taxes, L.A. County records show.

Crowded streets and intersections

Hong Kong, Causeway Bay

Causeway Bay is one of the most thickly populated streets in Hong Kong. It is also the second most expensive street in the world. I have not yet made it there but I have heard it is the most crowded and populated place around Asia. Must be true if Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas in the world, with 6,200 people per km².

Worst drug stakeout ever

Some of our finest drug warriors followed a tractor trailer carrying 1,700 pounds of marijuana and decided to watch it be delivered. That's when the herb disappeared.

According to law enforcement officials with knowledge of the delivery, officials watched the tractor trailer travel to its intended destination. Soon after, several vehicles pulled up, left and then came back. They stayed several hours and then left. When officials later checked the tractor trailer, the drugs were gone.
In the coming austerity, the ridiculous war against this plant should be one of the first things to go.

400-Million-Year-Old Mystery

Quote from source:
The giant fossil Prototaxites is a big 400-million year old mystery. The fossils resemble tree trunks, and yet they are from a time before trees existed. The stable carbon isotope values are similar to those of fungi, but the fossils do not display structures usually found in fungi. Hence, the enigma.

Prototaxites have sparked controversy for more than a century. Originally classified as a conifer, scientists later argued that it was instead a lichen, various types of algae or a fungus. Whatever it was, it stood in tree-like trunks more than 20 feet tall, making it the largest-known organism on land in its day.

“No matter what argument you put forth, people say, well, that’s crazy. That doesn’t make any sense,” said C. Kevin Boyce, Assistant Professor in Geophysical Sciences at the  University of Chicago. “A 20-foot-tall fungus doesn’t make any sense. Neither does a 20-foot-tall algae make any sense, but here’s the fossil.”

Plant-like polymers have been found in the fossils, but nutritional evidence supports heterotrophy, which is not commonly found in plants. These are a few of the confounding factors surrounding the identification of Prototaxites fossils.

Millions Unsatisfied In Bed

unsatisfied
And we aren’t talking sleepless nights here, we are talking bedroom Olympics.
Millions are being left completely unfulfilled in the bedroom, a new study has revealed.
Only one in four women and one in three men enjoy 100 per cent sexual satisfaction following a romp beneath the sheets.
Women’s biggest complaint is that men lack imagination and go through the same routine time and time again.
Men reckon most women are in too much of a rush to get things over and done with, are over-demanding and more interested in pleasing themselves.

Frustrated Owner Bulldozes Home Ahead Of Foreclosure

Like many people, Terry Hoskins has had troubles with his bank. But his solution to foreclosure might be unique.Hoskins said he's been in a struggle with RiverHills Bank over his Clermont County home for nearly a decade, a struggle that was coming to an end as the bank began foreclosure proceedings on his $350,000 home."When I see I owe $160,000 on a home valued at $350,000, and someone decides they want to take it – no, I wasn't going to stand for that, so I took it down," Hoskins said.

Hoskins said he'd gotten a $170,000 offer from someone to pay off the house, but the bank refused, saying they could get more from selling it in foreclosure.Hoskins told News 5's Courtis Fuller that he issued the bank an ultimatum."I'll tear it down before I let you take it," Hoskins told them. And that's exactly what Hoskins did.

UFOs Over Santiago Chile

This video was filmed on December 9 ,2009 on the 31st floor of a telecommunications building in Santiago Chile. At first these objects were thought to be helicopters given their vertical hoovering flight characteristics , but that was discounted as these objects at one point got so close together that they seemed to merge.

Small plane crashes into IRS building in Texas

AUSTIN, Texas — A software engineer crashed a small plane into an office building that houses federal tax employees Thursday, setting off a raging fire that sent workers fleeing as thick plumes of black smoke poured into the air.Fire officials said one person in the building was unaccounted for after the plane slammed into the second story. Two people were taken to the hospital. The FBI identified the pilot as Joseph Stack, whose home was set on fire just before the crash. Three federal law enforcement sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is still pending, said that evidence gathered so far indicates that Stack wrote a 3,000-word "manifesto" posted on the Internet. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2010-02-18-plane-crash-building_N.htm

Something tells me that this wasn't exactly an accident.  The male skater is trying too hard to look innocent.  Apparently the woman has figured out that she is giving a peep show to the crowd since she has a nice smile on her face.  I give that skating combo a "10"

Crazy Plastic Surgeries

Former Bunny Girl Sarah Burge spent half a million pounds turning herself into a real-life Barbie doll. The 49-year-old housewife and beautician from St Neots, in Cambridgeshire has spent £539,500 transforming herself – breaking the world record previously held by American Cindy Jackson, who also wanted to be like the famous doll.

The half-million pound costs include: £32,000 to have her whole face lasered to remove a layer of skin to give it a more youthful look; £26,500 on perfecting her bust – including having it reduced and the nipples moved; £30,000 on keeping her jawline firm; nearly £15,000 on her tummy; and £14,000 on keeping her bottom pert. The mother-of-three has undergone more than 100 surgical and cosmetic treatments. Her passion for going under the knife started after she had reconstruction surgery on her face after being beaten up and left for dead.

The dying woman who spent £40,000 on plastic surgery to look like Demi Moore

A woman with an inoperable brain tumor is spending £40,000 on plastic surgery – so she can die looking like movie star Demi Moore. Lisa Connell, 29, will use the money her mom Angela had saved up for Lisa's wedding to pay for her new look.

Despite being a stunning brunette, Lisa has never been happy with her appearance and is convinced the surgery will make her look as beautiful as Demi, who is no stranger to cosmetic surgery herself. In a race against time, Lisa will undergo liposuction, a breast enhancement and eyebrow lift, plus extra work on her skin and teeth to fulfill her dream.

Lisa was just 27 when she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor known as meningioma.

The security guard who spent £3,500 so he could look like the DEVIL

Gavin Paslow, a 39-year-old security guard, spent £3,552 to fund operations to give himself a fangs, a forked tongue and horns. Paslow, who has changed his name to Diablo Delenfer, or devil from the inferno - carried out 'body modifications' to look more like Lucifer.

His transformation began with his bizarre 'budding horns' - two domed implants made from hard Teflon on either side of his forehead. The £200-a-piece operations, carried out by a specialist in Manchester, were done without anesthetic in early 2008 - and took a total of five hours. The same cosmetic surgeon carried out a further procedure, also without anesthetic, to 'fork' his tongue - which involved slicing it down the middle with a scalpel. He later had a final operation to make his ears pointed at the tips. The fangs were achieved by grinding down his canine teeth and attaching £560 permanent ceramic crowns to each one. He also has 29 tattoos covering most of his upper body. To finish off his demonic look, Paslow wears green lizard-style contact lenses and, on special occasions, a long undertakers' tail coat combined with a frilly shirt.

The divorced father-of-two said his body is a work in progress and that he is not satanic but rather addicted to body modification.

Police: Man with weapons cache was preparing for Armageddon

Gregory D. Girard, 45, was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly storing approximately 20 weapons and thousands of rounds of ammunition. Manchester-by-the Sea police executed the search warrant. "Girard indicated he was preparing for ‘Armageddon,’ which he felt was imminent, and he felt martial law would soon be imposed,” Chief McKiel said in a statement. Police seized all the weapons and ammunition and revoked Girard’s license to carry firearms. Girard has no criminal record  .http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2010/02/police_man_with.html

Sea Shepherd skipper boards whaling vessel

The skipper of the Sea Shepherd vessel that was sunk in a Southern Ocean collision last month has today boarded the Japanese whaling security vessel that hit his boat. New Zealander Pete Bethune used a power-ski, under the cover of darkness, to clamber aboard the Shonan Maru No 2, said the anti-whaling group's leader, Paul Watson. “His mission is to attempt a citizen's arrest of the skipper of Shonan Maru No.2 for the destruction of the Ady Gil and attempted murder of six Ady Gil crew,” Captain Watson said.

Welcome back folks!
