Bizarre In Florida

Man reacts to job loss with baseball bat
Every day, more people lose their jobs. Most do not react quite like this. Larry Dale Hummel, 43, of 8505 N Mitchell St., was reacting to being fired from Family Mattress on Thursday by luring his supervisor back to the 8518 Nebraska Ave. store later that evening and threatening to kill him with a baseball bat, according to an arrest affidavit. The supervisor told police he feared for his life. No other details were available. Hummel was charged with aggravated assault and taken to the Hillsborough County Jail, where he remains in lieu of $2,000 bail.
Parolee picks wrong victim
The car was running, while the owner popped into a gas station, so the target was too tempting for a parolee from Chicago who was in Lakeland. But there were a couple of details that Abel Angel Mena didn’t know before he jumped into the car and drove off, TheLedger.com reports. One was that the victim’s girlfriend was accompanying him in a different car. The other was that the victim, 33-year-old Frank Scianimanico, was a Winter Have police detective. So not only did Scianimanico immediately give chase, he called Lakeland police. Mena drove only a mile, then tried to escape on foot. He didn’t get far.
