La Chacala

La Chacala is pretty much the Luchadora version of Triple H. It wouldn't surprise me a bit to see her come out from under a ring one night with a sledgehammer. This lady is rough.
Her real name is Carolina Escobedo Villanueva and she was born on April 27 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.
She was trained by luchador Pequeño Diamante and made her lucha libre debut in 1998.  She frequently tag teams with another brawler, Tsunami.

Mexican pro wrestling (Lucha Libre) is a tradition in Mexico that has spilled over into America's culture.

And in Lucha Libre Mexicana, the luchadoras (female wrestlers) there are just as respected as the male wrestlers. On this female wrestling list, there are some of the most popular female wrestlers in Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and some of the Indy Mexican wrestling promotions. And remember, this is more than just girls wrestling, this is a Mexican tradition.

Time to post some of the most popular luchadoras (female wrestlers) on this blog so far. Interestingly, it seems everyone is focused on the veterans of Lucha Libre and not so much on the new-comers.



1. Marcela
María Elena Santamaría Gómez was born on May 31, 1971 in Mexico City.
She is better known to her Lucha Libre fans as Marcela .
Marcela was trained by luchadors Panchito Villalobos, Rafael Salamanca, Franco Colombo, Jose Luis Feliciano, Satanico and Fantastik, and she made her pro wrestling debut in December of 1985.
She has held many titles during her career including the Distrito Federal Women's Title, the CMLL Women's Title and Mexican National Women's Championship.
Marcela mainly works for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre
